Project 540z

Posted by Mad Scientist on April 21, 2008

240z with a 5.4l small block chevyI broke down today and bought another project. It was actually meant to be my “tame” daily driver, but the starter went bad on me on my way home from a place called Chico, CA and as things turned out it’s a project. I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves, but I bought a 1973 240z with upgraded disc brakes all around (the most important upgrade, if you ask me), really crappy suspension (a travesty that will soon be remedied) and a 327ci SBC v8.

Oh, and it’s louder than the Devil screaming at the top of his lungs. More info to come after I make space to get it in the driveway.

ha ha sounds like you got hell to work through with that one bud. Should be pretty easy to find parts for a 240z though so that is a good thing…like the color, and the side exhaust (what it looks like not sure) how is the condition of the manifold? casue maybe its that loud cause its got a manifold leak or a hole in the exhaust some where?

    GOOD LUCK
ill be lookin forward to hear your progress on this project!

    Spencer,

The manifold is just peachy, no holes, no notable rust, no bad corrosion…

The dual 4″ unbaffled side-dump exhaust outlets are the cause of all the noise. This youtube video is what made me buy it.

HA! thats amazing…if the manifold is good then it jsut means that car is a natural born loud mouth…

    im jealous!
